1. What was your favorite vacation location and how did you heard about it?
Kyoto was by far the most interesting place i visited in Japan. More spacious, relaxed and friendlier than Tokyo, with heaps of culture and spectacular nature scenes.
2. Did you travel alone or with your family/friends (how many) ?
I travelled alone, but met a lot of cool people in the Bakpak Hostel in Kyoto.
3. How much time did you spend finding out information about this location and what resources did you use to do it (online sites/traveling agencies/friends).
For information, i read the Lonely Planet and looked on website such as: japan-guide.com, jnto.go.jp and gojapan.about.com.
4. Can you tell us the thing you like most in this place?
Kyoto is a very crowded, but at the same time a very peaceful town with a lot of space. It's the quieter version of Tokyo, with more nature scenes and plenty more cultural sites.
5. What were the bad/ugly sides of your vacation?
The only negative site of my vacation was that i could 'only' stay for 15 days! I fell in love with Kyoto and would like to go back there soon!
6. How was your room (did you had everything you need).
I stayed at the BakPak Hostel and had a great time with the people from my dorm room. The hostel was small, but had everything i need. The nextdoor 24-hours supermarket was very convenient. And best of all: the hostel provided free internet!
7. Did you take a digital camera (what model), a laptop or any other gadgets with you? (name of the gadget).
I brought my big Nikon D70 and my small Nikon Coolpix camera, a Sony videocamera and my mp3-player. To much cables, but in the end well worthed.
8. How were the people there (the reception and people you meet)
I traveled by train with my JR Japan Railpass. Very convenient, especially the Shinkansen!
9. Did you make any new friends (are you still keeping in touch).
I keep in touch with my friends through Facebook.
10. How did you spend your time? Did you participate in any recreational activities?
I spend my time temple-hopping, visiting museums, making daytrips to Nara, Osaka and Hiroshima and by just walking around town and enjoying everything i see.
11. What places did you visited? (Museums, resorts, sport facilities)
In Kyoto mostly Tempels and Shrines.
12. What other vacation location would you recommend to the public?
Japan in general. It's such an interesting country that you have to visit to really understand the beauty of it.
